FHTR Jersey by CritFitArmy
Velo Insider Rating
With a name like FHTR (meaning Fighter) you know this is going to be something very special, and CritFitArmy are one brand that’s creating unique apparel that truy stands out from the crowd. Their Italian fabrics looks stunning out on the road, with their unique camouflage/stealth style designs and bold use of colours. This is one jersey that performs every bit as good as it looks!
PROS: Great fit, high quality Italian fabrics, lightweight design.
CONS: None that we found.
Quality and Comfort
As soon as you open that CritFitArmy box you immediately notice the quality of fabrics and rich colours of the print and design.
The FHTR jersey has many features which really stand out, such as the fabric on the sleeves, the ‘easy access’ shape of the three rear pockets and reflective strip, the reinforced pocket stitching, neck zip protector, full length hidden zipper, lightweight fabrics and much much more… There has been a lot of thought and detail put into their jerseys and the FHTR is a superb example of what they have on offer.
Using Italian MITI fabrics, you know this is a jersey which is going to provide maximum performance and comfort. During riding in a variety of temperatures, we found the jersey to be extremely comfortable with more than enough breathability for temperatures around 20°C.
The jersey is very well designed with a race fit shape for aerodynamics and comfort. There’s more than enough movement in the arms and shoulders to freely move around while riding without feeling tight or restrictive. The sleeve length is perfect, providing a modern look and preventing the arms from riding up to your armpits, something we hate with short sleeve jerseys. Even though there’s no gripper on the arms, they stay in place thanks to the length and design.
The mesh side panels provide good ventilation for your under arms and contribute to keeping you cool during your ride. The low cut neckline also keeps the jersey feeling comfortable in all riding positions, there’s nothing worse than riding on the drops and having the neckline dig in every time you look up at the road. And that neck/zip protector does a great job of preventing the zip rubbing against your neck, it’s details like this which show how much thought CritFitArmy have put into their apparel.
Overall this is an extremely comfortable jersey which we found to be super comfy mile after mile.
The fabric choice is superb, providing a high level of breathability as well as protection. The lightweight fabrics allow you to ride in comfort which we found to be superb for rides of any length.
Being a race cut jersey, it’s close fitting design keeps the jersey as aerodynamic as possible while providing good ventilation and wicking away of sweat and body heat. We found the jersey performed well in a variety of temperatures and kept you cool during high intensity rides.
The jersey features a rear reflective strip for safety, which is a nice little addition, and the waistline gripper keeps the jersey firmly in place while riding.
We really like the arm fabric too, something which we’ve seen other brands use and advertise as being ‘Aerodynamic’. Whether this is true or not, the arm fabric is a superb choice and adds to the comfort and performance of this fab jersey.
Size and Fit
Sizing is perfect with a ‘true-to-size’ fit. If you want and aerodynamic fit then choose your correct size, if you want a more relaxed fit then size up, it’s that simple!
Even though this is designed to be a ‘race cut’ fit, it still has more than enough room to provide comfort without being too tight. It’s definitely an aerodynamic cut, so bear this in mind when ordering. Thanks to the superb fit, there’s no ruffling or bunching up of fabric, and there’s no flapping parts when descending at high speeds. It fits, and fits well.
One of the highlights of the FHTR jersey is the arm fabric and length. The perfect arm length is just what we like to see in modern jerseys, it looks superb and keeps you more comfortable than shorter lengths which bunch up underneath your armpits.
The neckline fits very well without creating any tight areas or discomfort. The body length is good for your average rider, as you can see in the photographs the size on review is a SMALL and being 6ft tall there’s more than enough length in the body for my torso.
Value for Money
Priced at $124.99 (£97 GBP) it’s a superb looking, unique jersey for the money. You get a lot of quality and high quality fabrics from a jersey which looks very unique out on the road.
Just look at it… with a design like that, you’re definitely going to stand out from the crowd. We love the bold use of colours and design, and with a variety of well thought out features, the FHTR jersey is well worth your consideration!
