Pordoi Jersey by Bicycle Line
Velo Insider Rating
Italian brand ‘Bicycle Line’ have been in the cycling industry for more than 30 years, yet they remain an exclusive brand who pride themselves on providing the highest quality and manufacturing for their range of cycling apparel.
The ‘Pordoi’ jersey is the most advanced technical jersey in their range of kit currently available. It boasts a huge range of features and is ultra-light for those who like to stay cool and free while riding. With the added advantage of having +50 spf sun protection, this is the perfect Italian made summer jersey.
Colour on review is: Avio Blue
PROS: High quality technical fabrics, extremely lightweight and comfortable.
CONS: Smallest size may not be small enough for some smaller riders.
Quality and Comfort
I love that feeling of opening a brand new jersey, to smell that new Italian fabric fresh from its manufacturer, and when it’s a brand you’ve never tried before it makes it all the more special.
Bicycle Line’s range of apparel oozes a high degree of quality. As soon as you feel the ultra light weight of the Pordoi jersey you get that sense of something special, and special it is.
The Pordoi jersey’s quality is second to none with it’s use of Asteria fabric and high quality thermo-sealed finish. The jersey features a YKK covered zip, razor cut arms with silicon gripper, a generous body length with a silicon gripper hem, reflective details for safety, three pocket rear pouch, zipped security pocket and an impressive +50 SPF.
It certainly ticks all of the boxes when it comes to features, and combined with the ultra light fabric and well manufactured design, this is a jersey which is extremely comfortable to wear during a variety of summer riding conditions.
Fit may be an issue for slimmer than normal riders who prefer a close fitting jersey, so see ‘Size and Fit’ below for more details.
The Pordoi jersey looks sharp out on the open road with it’s deep colour and vivid graphics, making it a real head turner for other cyclists.
The ultra-light fabric of this jersey does it’s job extremely well. It feels very light and breathable which keeps you cooler in warmer riding conditions. The silicon grippers on the arms and sleeves hold their position well avoiding any annoying discomfort while riding. The pockets are very easy to access and provide a good amount of storage for the usual spares, gilet, rain cape or smartphone.
While out riding it’s easy to forget you are wearing the Pordoi jersey because of it’s lightweight design. While riding you are free to ride in and out the saddle without any issues of the jersey being too short or tight around your arms or neckline.
Designed as a summer jersey it performs extremely well and is definitely a jersey for those who like their high quality Italian made apparel.
Size and Fit
The Pordoi jersey is very well designed in it’s body length, arm length and general fit. For me the size is a little loose compared with their size chart, of course fit always depends on each persons own body shape. However, I normally prefer close fitting jerseys so I wear a size Small (96cm chest) and the jersey on review is a Small for a 94cm chest, so if you are 96cm or less it will feel more of a relaxed comfort fit rather than a tight aero fit. Small is their smallest size so bear this in mind when ordering. As you can see in some of the riding positions, the fabric is a little loose around the torso.
Value for Money
Priced at €99.90 (£87 GBP / $117 USD) it is in the midway price point for apparel from independent brands such as Bicycle Line. For the price you get superb Italian fabrics from an Italian brand, as well as every important feature you want from a top performance jersey and because of this, it certainly provides value for money.
The Pordoi jersey is a top performer from an Italian brand using high quality ultra-light fabrics which look great and perform even better. We’d be careful on sizing, unless you like your jerseys to have a more relaxed fit.
